FORS Compliance Auditing
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme that promotes best practise for commercial vehicle operators. FORS focuses on all aspects of safety, efficiency and environmental protection by encouraging and training operators to measure, monitor and improve performance.
Many organisations that award contracts to hauliers now demand the FORS accreditation and the standards that come with holding a Bronze, Silver or Gold progressive membership to ensure the highest levels of best practice within the industry.
Company Director, Mark Gaines is a certified FORS Auditor ad FORS Practitioner and as such has conducted 100+ audits on behalf of the Fleet Accreditation Scheme. This has given him detailed knowledge of exactly what is required to gain a first time audit pass ensuring your organisation, big or small, obtains accreditation in a timely and cost effective manner.

Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
The Transport Manager CPC is a legal requirement of the operator licencing system for both Standard National and International licences.
Under current EU law, operators of large goods vehicles seeking an ‘O’ licence must show that they are professionally competent or employ someone as a transport manager who makes that requirement.
This ten day course works towards the exam set by the OCR examination board, it provides up-to-date and relevant training for those seeking to enter the field of Transport Management or to demonstrate the professional competence required to meet the operator’s licence requirements.
Topics covered include:
Managing the licence
Drivers’ hours and record keeping
Home study will be required throughout the duration of the course.
Operator Licencing Awareness Training (OLAT)
An Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT) course provide an overview of the operation licencing system and details the fundamental undertakings that apply to operators.
The OLAT course is delivered in a one day session and is an excellent starting point for people who are looking to prepare to gain The Transport Management CPC qualification or those who are looking to update their awareness as part of their continued professional development. The course may also be required to be undertaken following an instruction from a Traffic Commissioner. This is common when an Operator holding either a Standard or Restricted Operator License and has appeared at a Public Inquiry. Our course fully complies with the expectations of the Traffic Commissioner.
The Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT) course is designed to give the operator the ability to prevent future non-compliance, covering:
• Operator Licensing – Application; Conditions; Notifiable Changes; Legal Responsibilities
• Safe Loading of Vehicles – including Load Restraint, calculation of payload and safe load distribution
• Weights and Dimensions of Vehicles
• Drivers Hours – EU drivers hours and the Road Transport Working Time Directive

An abbreviated version of the OLAT course is also available as a 3.5 hour Driver CPC module, designed to inform drivers and junior staff of their role in operator licencing compliance and the implications of non-compliance.
(This shorter course is not accepted by the Traffic Commissioner as a full OLAT course)
Operator Licence Applications

The main purpose of goods vehicle operator licencing is to ensure the safe and proper use of goods vehicles and to protect the environment around the operating centres.
You will need an ‘O’ Licence if you want to use;
• A vehicle over 3.5 tonne (3500kg) plated weight.
• A vehicle for business, hire or reward.
• A vehicle in conjunction with trade or business
There are a variety of O licence types that could be suitable to your needs.
Standard International Licence:
This allows you to carry your own goods, and goods for other people for hire or reward, both in the UK and on international journeys. It requires that you and your Transport Manager must each satisfy the requirement of good repute and professional competence.
Standard National Licence:
This allows you to carry your own goods on your own account, or other people's goods for hire or reward, in the UK and to carry your OWN goods on your own account abroad.
It requires that you and your Transport Manager must each satisfy the requirement of good repute and professional competence.
This only allows you to carry your own goods on your own account within the UK and the EU. You do not have to satisfy the requirement of professional competence.
Examples of using a restricted license are: If you produce your own products and deliver them yourself or if you use the vehicle to transport tools or equipment to and from a job, e.g. a scaffolder or builder.
